Visits & Events

Over the past few years, prior to Covid restrictions curtailing visits, the WI has undertaken a diverse and interesting range of both social and educational activities. Social lunches in restaurants both local, supporting our local businesses, and further afield enable members to get together in larger groups.

Educational visits have included a tour of HMS Northumberland, as featured in “Warship” on BBC 1, a tour of a decommissioned nuclear submarine in Devonport Naval Yard, and an inspection tour of the immaculately clean waste disposal incineration site in Plymouth.

As well as these we make an annual visit to Pentillie Castle for the Shakespeare Evening in a magical setting on the banks of the Tamar. The members bring and share an alfresco picnic, then enjoy an evening of Shakespeare performed by the Lord Chamberlains Men.

Further visits & events are being planned, and will be listed below.
