Our WI, founded in 1921, was one of the first in Devon to join the National Federation of WI's.  Even from the early days we were lucky enough to have our own hall, thanks to the enterprising founder members and a bank loan of what was then the vast sum of £600.

The hall was, and still is, used by the community for a wide range of activities.

I don’t know what our pioneering first members were like as individuals, but I can tell from looking at the old minutes and past programmes that they organised a variety of speakers, went on outings and supported each other.  Our speakers may offer a wider range of topics – some of them are even men -  and our outings may be further afield but the spirit of community and friendship is still the same.

We look out for one another, we enjoy one another’s company and we learn from one another. Technology has changed the way we communicate and happily it has made it easier, especially when we cannot meet face to face.  Our members enjoy a variety of different activities which extend far beyond the monthly meetings.
